Event description: 

Prof. Dong-One Kim is the 21st President of Korea University and a Professor at the Korea University Business School, where he has taught full-time since 1997. He is the author of numerous articles, reviews, reports, and books on international labor relations and policy.

Prof. Kim began his term as President of Korea University on March 2nd, 2023. His previous leadership roles in university administration include Dean of the Korea University Business School, Dean of the Graduate School of Labor Studies, Vice President for Planning and Budget, and Vice President for General Affairs at Korea University. Prof. Kim has also served on several Korean government boards and committees including the National Economic Advisory Council, Regulatory Reform Committee, National Research Council and the National Labor Relations Commission. In support of private enterprise Prof. Kim was also an Executive Board Member of Kia, Lotte Aluminum and KDM Korea.

Prof. Kim’s leadership roles in academic associations and journals include President of the International Labor and Employment Relations Association (ILERA), the Korea Labor and Employment Relations Association and Chair of the Social Asia Forum, Korea Committee. He was also the Editor of ILERA Publications and the Korean Journal of Industrial Relations and currently is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Industrial Relations, and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Labor and Industry.

Prof. Kim has held an international professorship at the State University of New York at Oswego, School of Business and is on the International Advisory Boards of the KEDGE Business School, France, and the Employment and Equalities Institute at the University of Manchester, UK.

Prof. Kim is a graduate of Korea University (BA), and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MS, Ph.D). He is married with two children.
